Real Madrid and Adidas have renewed their technical sponsorship agreement for another eight years, in a deal valued at €1 billion, which president Florentino Pérez considers “the most important in the history of football.”
At the same time, the Spanish team announced an extension of its main sponsorship contract with Fly Emirates until 2031, valued at approximately €100 million per season, a record amount in European football.
The contract values were reported by the international press and have not been officially disclosed.
Regarding the agreement with Adidas, Florentino Pérez, who was recently re-elected president of Real Madrid, highlighted that the “strategic alliance” with the German sportswear brand has helped Real Madrid “to experience one of the most wonderful periods in its history” over the last three decades.
Since 1999, Real Madrid and Adidas have been together, in a partnership that the CEO of the German sportswear manufacturer declared to be “one of the most successful” in sports. “Real Madrid is a very special club with an impressive history. I am very proud that the three stripes continue to be part of this extraordinary success story,” said Bjørn Gulden.
Emirates worth €500 million
At the same presentation, Florentino Pérez announced the renewal of the main sponsorship agreement with the airline Fly Emirates until 2031 for another five years. The agreement will bring a total of €500 million to the Spanish team’s coffers, or €100 million per season.
Emirates will continue as the main sponsor of Real Madrid’s men’s and women’s teams, and will also continue to appear on training uniforms and the coaching staff’s uniforms.
The partnership began in 2011, but only in 2013 did Emirates become the main sponsor of Real Madrid. The new agreement represents a significant increase compared to the €70 million Emirates previously paid.
Emirates is one of the leading sponsors of football: it also sponsors Arsenal’s shirt and stadium and is the main sponsor of Benfica and AC Milan.
