Telefónica will pay DAZN around €1.65 billion for the rights to broadcast LaLiga matches over the next five seasons.

Under the agreement announced on Tuesday, the Spanish telecommunications group will pay an average of approximately €330 million per season from 2027, 18% more than the €280 million it has been paying under the current cycle, which ends at the end of this season.

The package includes five of LaLiga’s 10 matches per matchday across all 38 rounds of the season.

The deal means customers of Telefónica’s Movistar Plus+ TV service will continue to have access to all matches from Spain’s top-flight football league through the 2031-32 season. Telefónica and Movistar hold the rights to the other five matches per matchday under a separate agreement.

The two domestic rights packages for the next cycle were awarded at the end of last year, with the total value paid by the two broadcasters for residential broadcasting rights over the five-season period reaching €5.25 billion, an increase on the current cycle.

Both broadcasters will have the rights to one of the two annual El Clásico meetings between Spanish giants and historic rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona, as well as an equal number of first-choice match broadcasts throughout the season.

Telefónica also holds the Spanish broadcasting rights to UEFA competitions, including the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League, through 2031.
