Burnley have announced the termination of their sponsorship agreement with Finotive One, an “ecosystem for trading”, just two months after the deal was signed and days before the start of the new season.
On the same day, the Championship club announced Vertu Motors as its new principal shirt sponsor.
No explanation was given for the abrupt termination of the agreement with Finotive One, which was signed on July 3 and was due to run for the entire season. Burnley said it would refund supporters who wish to return shirts featuring the Finotive One logo and will also allow them to exchange them for the new version.
Burnley unveiled their new away shirt two weeks ago in a promotional campaign featuring former NFL player JJ Watt, former England cricketer James Anderson and Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The promotional video is now obsolete, while shirts featuring the Finotive One branding have been removed from the club’s online store.
“”Burnley is disappointed to confirm that its agreement with Finotive has been terminated. We have acted decisively to protect the Club’s interests, and those of our supporters, while ensuring preparations for the new season continue uninterrupted, both on and off the pitch,” the club said in a statement.
The new sponsor, Vertu Motors, is the UK’s fourth-largest automotive retailer and has already had a relationship with Burnley since 2022.
Burnley will begin their new Championship campaign on August 16, when they host West Ham.
