A consortium that includes Amazon founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos is in talks to acquire a stake of around 30% in Liverpool.
The group is led by British-Indian businessman Amit Bhatia and also includes Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin.
The club’s American owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), confirmed last month that the consortium had “expressed an interest in a strategic minority investment in Liverpool.”
Bezos, 62, is the world’s fourth-richest person, with an estimated net worth of $256 billion, according to Forbes.
In addition to Amazon, where he served as CEO until 2021 and still owns an 8% stake, Bezos also owns The Washington Post and aerospace company Blue Origin.
FSG, which acquired Liverpool in 2010 for £300 million, has already sold a minority stake in the historic Premier League club to investment firm Dynasty Equity.
Liverpool generated £703 million in revenue during the 2024-25 financial year.
