Streaming platform DAZN paid US$1 billion for the television rights to the 63 games of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, according to multiple reports.
According to the Financial Times, the agreement is valid for only one year, but DAZN has the option right for the 2026 edition.
Financial details of the deal were not revealed. But taking into account that all games will be available for free makes the $1 billion move even more ambitious. It is certain that DAZN will be able to sell television rights locally to open channels.
“With this agreement, fans will be able to watch the biggest accessible football tournament of all time and for free,” declared FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
The FIFA Club World Cup will feature the participation of the 32 biggest clubs in the world, including Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense and Palmeiras. Portugal will be represented with two teams: FC Porto and SL Benfica.
The race will take place in the United States, starting on June 15, 2025 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. It will be played in 12 American stadiums, and the final is scheduled for July 13, at MetLife Stadium, in New York.
“This groundbreaking agreement with FIFA is an important milestone in DAZN’s journey to be the best entertainment platform of choice for sports fans around the world,” said DAZN CEO Shay Segev.
“We are delighted to have exclusive rights to this new chapter in global club football, marking the beginning of our long-term relationship with FIFA and cementing our status as the home of football.”
