Top 20 Best Football Teams in the World 2023

Manchester City is the best team in the world, according to the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS).

Citizens had a dream year in 2023, winning the Premier League title, the UEFA Champions League and also the FIFA Club World Cup.

The English team ended the year with 359 points, ahead of Real Madrid (332 points) and Inter Milan (289 points) – even though the champions of their respective leagues were Barcelona and Naples.

Al Ahly, from Egypt, made history with the best result ever by a team outside UEFA and CONMENBOL: the African team is considered the fourth best in the world, after winning the African Champions League.

Rounding out the top-5 is PSV Eindhoven, from the Netherlands, who scored 243.5 points, ahead of teams like Bayer Leverkusen, Fluminense and Fiorentina, for example.

After two years in first place, Flamengo was considered the 14th best team last year.

Europe dominates again

European teams once again dominate the IFFHS ranking. In the top 100 positions there are 62 teams from the Old Continent, while 27 belong to CONMENBOL and another seven teams to the AFC.

The IFFHS evaluates football clubs based on several criteria, such as performance in national and international competitions, titles won, and results in matches played during the year.
