São Paulo FC has approved an agreement with Ticketmaster for the management of ticketing at the Morumbis stadium and the club’s membership programme, in a deal worth R$140 million.
The club’s board members approved the agreement on Wednesday, with 184 votes in favour and 44 against.
Under the terms of the deal, Ticketmaster will provide R$110 million in financing to São Paulo in three instalments within 45 days of the contract being signed.
The five-year loan will carry an interest rate linked to the CDI (Interbank Deposit Certificate), plus a 1.99% spread.
São Paulo will repay the amount using revenue generated from matches at Morumbis, with monthly repayments capped at R$1.8 million.
Ticketmaster will also pay R$30 million for the commercial exploitation rights to the stadium, covering both football matches and concerts.
The agreement provides a significant financial boost for the Brazilian club, allowing São Paulo to settle outstanding debts with its squad, including overdue salaries and image rights payments.
São Paulo is also one of the clubs that will be affected by the end of betting sponsorships in Brazil, having a R$90 million naming sponsorship agreement with Superbet.
