May 14, 2026

Former Spanish player Sergio Ramos is close to finalizing the purchase of Sevilla, his childhood team, after the consortium that unites him with the Five Eleven Capital investment group reached an agreement with the largest shareholders of the Andalusian club.

According to the Spanish press, the deal is valued at around €450 million for the acquisition of 80% of the team, approximately €3.5 per share.

The agreement is still awaiting the finalization of documentation and notarization, having successfully passed a rigorous due diligence audit conducted by KPMG, which had deterred previous competitors.

The transaction still needs authorization from LaLiga and the Spanish National Sports Council to be completed.

Nightmare After European Success

Sevilla has played in La Liga uninterruptedly since the 2001-2002 season, but is currently fighting to avoid relegation after a poor campaign this season.

The team is in 13th place and is only three points above the relegation zone, with three rounds remaining in the Spanish league. Last season they finished in 17th position and escaped relegation by one point.

Sevilla has won the Europa League 7 times, a record.

Ramos, who came up through the ranks at the Andalusian club, also has a curriculum full of titles, having won the World Cup and two European Cups with the Spanish national team. He joined Real Madrid in 2005, with whom he won 22 titles.
