Brighton plans to build Europe’s first €90 million women’s football stadium

Apr 30, 2026

The English club Brighton and Hove Albion has announced plans to build the first stadium exclusively for women’s football in Europe, representing an investment of approximately £80 million (over €90 million).

The new venue aims to “provide a permanent home and identity for the women’s team,” in an attempt to contribute to the long-term growth of the fan base, according to the English club.

The stadium will be built next to the Amex Stadium, at Bennet’s Field, the home stadium of the team that plays in the Premier League, and will have an initial capacity of 10,000 people.

With the licensing process underway, the club hopes to officially open the stadium at the start of the 2030-31 season.

Brighton’s women’s team has played at the Amex on some benefits, but currently most of their WSL games are played at Crawley Town’s Broadfield Stadium, about 20 miles away.

Stadium to welcome “families and women”

For the club’s general manager of women’s football, Zoe Johnson, the new stadium “is a groundbreaking project in the UK and Europe, and one of only three in the world, which will surely capture the imagination of everyone involved in women’s football, not just here, but globally.”

“Designed to be especially welcoming for families and women attending a stadium for the first time,” the stadium will feature first-of-its-kind breastfeeding rooms, diaper changing facilities and “carriage parking,” as well as social spaces in the lobby for events and structural parking.
