Summer Transfer Window Watch: Completed Transfers & Potential Moves

Jun 16, 2025

The 2025 summer transfer window opened earlier than usual briefly to allow teams to make signings ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup. So, some clubs have already made major moves in the market, while others are still actively pursuing their top targets. With the window reopening on June 16, there’s still a boatload more deals to come, especially in the Premier League.

The Amorim Rebuild Begins

Manchester United and manager Ruben Amorim have been waiting for the summer to arrive so they can begin rebuilding the squad. They’ve already made one capture in the form of Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, who joined for £62.5 million. They’re also expected to push through a deal for Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo as Amorim looks to strengthen his attack first. Football transfer odds also suggest United are in the running to sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Liverpool Aren’t Resting on Their Laurels

Liverpool ran out comfortable winners of the Premier League last season, and manager Arne Slot is looking to build on that. The club saw Trent Alexander-Arnold depart but quickly replaced him with Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong. They now look set to get a deal done for Frimpong’s teammate Florian Wirtz, too. Darwin Nunes will likely leave Anfield this summer, as Slot aims to strengthen across the board.

Guardiola Aiming To Create City 2.0

The 2024/25 season signalled that something needed to give at Manchester City. And with that in mind, manager Pep Guardiola has sanctioned the departures of players such as Kevin De Bruyne, who will play for Napoli next season. Kyle Walker is another member of the old guard on his way out of the club. So far, City have brought in three new first-team players for a total fee exceeding £110 million: Rayan Ait-Nouri, Tijjani Reijnders, and Rayan Cherki.

Arsenal Gunning for a Striker

While Arsenal are very likely to wrap up the signing of midfielder Martin Zubimendi, their main aim continues to be finding a striker capable of scoring goals regularly for them at the top level. As things stand, Benjamin Sesko appears to be their number one target and the player they’re trying to get through the door. But the Gunners have alternatives in the form of Viktor Gyokeres and Ollie Watkins. They bid for the latter in the January transfer window.

Frank’s Arrival Could Be a Gamechanger

Thomas Frank’s arrival as Spurs’ new manager could be a game-changer where their recruitment is concerned. The Dane set his teams up differently from Ange Postecoglou, and he will likely have a list of targets for the club to chase. One of them could be Bryan Mbeumo, who is thought to prefer a move to Manchester United. But could his current and soon-to-be former manager twist his arm?

Final Thoughts

Some clubs have already made significant moves in the transfer market due to their involvement in the Club World Cup. And, from June 16 onwards, there will be even more deals being done, with incomings and outgoings expected throughout the Premier League. What will be interesting is to see how this sees teams shape up next season and what their aspirations are.
