For the second year in a row, Italy’s Serie A was named the best football league in the world, having scored 1,992 points last year, according to the IFFHS (International Federation of Football History and Statistics).
The Italian league has been named the best league in the world for the 13th time since the IFFHS launched the rankings in 1991.
Spain’s La Liga and the Premier League swapped positions in last year’s rankings. The Spanish championship was considered the second best, with 1885 points, while the English league closed the podium with 1871 points.
Europe dominates again
Of the top 20 best leagues in the world, 12 are located in Europe (UEFA). Another five leagues are South American (Conmebol), while there is one from Africa (CAF), another from North America (CONCACAF) and another from Asia (AFC).
The Brasileirão was again in fourth place, totaling 1859 points, followed by the German Bundesliga (1606) and the Argentine Primera División (1184).
In turn, Liga Portugal (1170) surpasses Ligue 1 in France (1125), while Jupiler Pro League in Belgium (1095.5) moves ahead of Eredivisie (1015), with the Dutch league closing the top-10. .
