Brighton is only the eighth most valuable squad of the English second tier, being valued at 40 million pounds. The list leader, Newcastle, exceeds twice that value. The team trained by Rafa Benítez is valued at 103 million pounds, ranking second at the moment in the Championship.

After reaching the playoffs last season and being eliminated by Hull City, Chris Hughton‘s pupils have risen steadily this season. In addition to the good work of the Irish coach, who else is responsible for this great achievement?

Glenn Murray

The 33-year-old English striker was crucial in the good season of the seagulls. Murray has scored 22 times in 39 matches. Hired this season from Bournemouth, the Briton proved to be Brighton’s secret weapon. Due to his age, Murray is only valued at 2,8 million pounds, but surely his record will make many top players jealous.

Anthony Knockaert

Brighton’s most valuable player is this 25-year-old french winger. Knockaert is valued at 5,7 million pounds and its value is likely to skyrocket. Having played at EA Guingamp, Leicester City and Standard de Liège, Anthony was worth only 2 million pounds than two years ago. The Frenchman has 15 goals scored and eight assists. Stats that made him the Championship’s Best Player of the Year.

Lewis Dunk

Brighton have so far the best defense of the league, conceding only 36 goals in 43 matches. Much of the credit goes to Lewis Dunk, the 25-year-old center back. Strong in positioning and aerial duels, the English center back does not hesitate when it comes to take the ball out of the box. Valued at 4 million pounds, Dunk has been at the club since 2010, being one of the stars of the Brighton academy.

(Also noteworthy the contributions of veteran midfielder Steve Sidwell and the goalkeeper David Stockdale).
